DJ Shayna is an open format DJ, which means she plays all kinds of music. She is a music lover whose clients know to have a quick response time and a very professional manner. She works as a DJ for weddings and charities for the most part but does do all kinds of events.
Shayna began working as a DJ in college. After taking a few years off to start her family and a new career, she found herself at a DJ lesson, and her love of the art blossomed. She started back as a hobby, but after a year passed, she began her DJ business and has been busy ever since.
DJ Shayna has had some interesting experiences while working as a DJ. Once when working a charity prom that she does each year for a local hospital, she had the opportunity to meet Slamson (the Sacramento King’s mascot)! What she really loves best about this event is that they invite high school-age patients who cannot attend their own prom because of illnesses or health problems. She says, “It is such a fun event with such a special meaning behind it.”
She has also had some humorous times, such as a wedding where the bride said she could play any song but the “Chicken Dance” song. So, of course, the cutest flower girl requested the song. Being the great DJ she is, she checked with the bride, and once she said OK, the flower girl was thrilled to hear her song. To the bride’s surprise, that song had everyone dancing and was a big hit. Knowing how to handle situations like this and turn them into great memories is why DJ Shayna is such a popular DJ.
When DJ Shayna is not busy working events, she likes to spend time with her husband and three kids. They love being outdoors and traveling. From horseback riding to gardening to blogging about their travels, they love an adventure.
DJ Shayna’s advice to engaged couples is, “Have fun and enjoy the moment! It all goes by so fast, and whatever last-minute issues there are usually work themselves out.” She believes one of the most important aspects of an event is the music because it sets the mood. She says the programming is super important because it is not just what songs you play but when you play them.
