Outdoor Wedding Venues
For many couples, Rough & Ready Vineyards is the perfect Nevada County outside wedding venue when planning their Gold Country ceremony and reception. We are happy to provide many options to ensure that your day is uniquely your own!
When looking at outdoor wedding venues, couples often ask the same questions:
Where do we get married outdoors?
Many couples choose to say “I do” in our Italian marble gazebo in the upper meadow. It is a beautiful backdrop for photos and it doesn’t take much décor for the style to match your theme. At the top of our green lawn, it allows you to have a long, grand entrance while the music plays, so you can truly cherish the moment! Others have chosen to have their ceremonies on our bridge, at our rustic arbor, in the vineyard, or even in our front pasture! The choice is yours!
Where is the outdoor reception?
Our heritage oaks shade the reception meadow next to our barn-style guesthouse. With bistro lights strung between the trees, the dance floor can have just the right illumination after the sun goes down. It’s an intimate feel amidst the wide-open space our 16 acres provides.
What is included in our outdoor wedding venue package?
Tables and Chiavari chairs are always included, as is our bathroom facility (no porta-potties here!). All packages also include onsite staff for your wedding day to ensure that your day goes smoothly. Our parking area also has golf cart transportation for those needing special assistance navigating the walk. Learn more about our packages on our page with Rough & Ready Vineyard wedding packages page.
Can we bring our own caterer and other vendors?
Yes, you may! We do have a preferred vendor list to assist you with local vendors, however you are free to choose your own. Some of our packages even include vendors like an officiant or DJ! Your caterer and other vendors have an easy set-up on our property, and our on-site host can help direct them during the day.
What special things do we need to consider when looking at a Nevada County outdoor venue?
Depending on the season of your wedding, there may be special considerations, no matter which outdoor wedding venue you select. As Nevada County is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, we do at times have wildlife to be aware of, so we always recommend that children be supervised. Wildlife spotting at Rough & Ready Vineyards is rare, but it can be surprising to encounter an unexpected animal!
Similarly, on our warm days it can be very important to ensure that everyone has plenty of water to drink. Some of our packages include non-alcoholic beverages, so consider putting that on us so you have one less thing to worry about!
At any wedding, especially one held at an outdoor wedding site, couples need to consider the end-of-evening details. We will help you plan for those and ensure our staff is prepared to assist with everything needed.
Can we stay onsite at Rough & Ready Guesthouse?
Yes! Most couples choosing to get married at our Nevada County Outdoor Venue book the guesthouse through VRBO for the weekend (or even the week before!). It is convenient to be on site and many couples enjoy seeing the preparation from the windows upstairs. The guesthouse sleeps 16 people and has a hair salon, massage table, and plenty of room for the entire bridal party to get ready, even if they don’t wish to see each other before the outdoor wedding ceremony.
Also, when staying onsite, you are able to have additional options for photos, like our elegant staircase, the large master bath with claw foot tub, and so much more! Talk to your coordinator about any discounts that may be available when booking both a guesthouse stay and an outdoor wedding package with us!
